House rules

  • Pet-friendly: Pulli isn't allowed in the guest rooms. He disputes this.
  • Parties & drinks welcome: Keep the volume reasonable. Someone is always surfing at dawn.
  • Look after the key: A lost key or damage may cost you. That's the whole list.

Choosing

Which one to book.

Take the dorm bed if you're travelling alone and the point of the trip is the people. Four beds is not a hostel dorm. It is a small room of strangers who are on first-name terms by the second breakfast. It's also the cheapest way to string together consecutive surf mornings, which is what actually makes you better.

Take an A/C Double if you're two people, or one person who wants a door that shuts. Private bathroom, breakfast included, and the same walk to the water as everyone else.

Take the A/C Deluxe if you want the quiet side of the house and a heavier curtain for the mornings you've earned a lie-in. There are only 2 of them and they go first.

Between them the 5 private rooms and the 4-bed dorm come to 14 beds. Groups do take the whole house, for that, talk to us rather than booking room by room.

Rooms at Kuma Surf

The practical questions.

How much is a room at Kuma Surf?

Dorm beds start at ₹700 per bed per night and private rooms from ₹2,000 per night. Every room is air-conditioned and the rate is the same whether one or two of you are in it.

Are the rooms air-conditioned?

All of them, dorm included, with the control in the room. Bathrooms have hot water and fresh towels.

Is breakfast included with the room?

Kerala breakfast is included with the A/C Double and the dorm bed. For the A/C Deluxe, confirm it when you book. We'd rather check than assume on your behalf.

Do I have to pay the full amount to book a room?

Yes. Room bookings are settled in full at the time of booking rather than held with a deposit. Surf camps are the exception and work on a deposit plus balance on arrival.

Can we book the whole house?

The house sleeps 14 across five private rooms and a four-bed dorm, and groups do take all of it. Message us with your dates and headcount rather than booking room by room and hoping.

What do I need to bring for check-in?

A government photo ID for each adult, which every property in Kerala is required to record. Indian nationals: Aadhaar, passport, licence or voter ID. Foreign nationals: passport and visa, since we have to file your arrival on Form C within 24 hours. We record it and hand the document straight back.

Is there anywhere to keep a surfboard?

Board storage and an outdoor rinse come with any bed. Nothing wet or sandy needs to come into the room.

Anything not covered here, message us on WhatsApp at +91 99953 38248.

Not sure which fits?

Send your dates, headcount and surf level. We'll point you toward the right room, session or week.
